20171015 Benefit concert flyer B.jpg

The CSU-Pueblo Music Department presents a concert to benefit The Pure Imagination Fund, a scholarship fund in memory of Ashli Abner, a flutist and music education student at CSU-P.

The Pure Imagination Benefit concert will feature jazz and classical chamber music performed by CSU-P music faculty. The program will include performances by:

Wayne Wilkinson, jazz guitar

The Brad Eastin jazz quartet

Dr. David Volk, piano and Norah Clydesdale, cello performing an original composition by Dr. David Volk

Dr. Timothy Hsu, violin

Greg Creager, jazz and ragtime piano

The CSU-P Marching Band Drumline

Ben Johnson and Andrea Artley, classical flute and guitar duo

There is no admission fee, donations will go entirely to the Pure Imagination Fund. The Pure Imagination Fund has been established through the University Foundation to create an endowed scholarship in memory of Music Education major, Ashli Abner. Ashli lost her fight with lupus in August 2016. It was her dream to teach music. She believed in the power of music to positively influence lives. She imagined how the world could be a better place when children have the chance to learn and experience music. Ashli lost her fight with lupus in August 2016 before she was able to realize her dream. We want to honor Ashli and her dream with an endowed scholarship for Music Education students studying at CSU-Pueblo. To keep Ashli’s dream present in future students we need to raise $25,000.

Over the years, it has grown from a soccer team, to a one-room school with thirteen students, to a full-fledged high school serving 130 girls each year.
